Burger King UK
Providing Burger King UK with a recycling solution for cups.
Read MoreIn partnership with Zedify and Pedicargo, we set up the UK’s first zero-emission, award winning, bike-driven waste battery service - Re-Volt
The main benefit of the collection scheme is to help reduce fuel use and carbon emissions. Collection vehicles would usually emit 298g of CO2 for every mile, whereas the bikes emit zero CO2.
In city centres, couriers often get held up in traffic, which causes delays and increases pollution in proportion to the distance travelled – especially with vehicle engines running while waiting in traffic queues.
Our bike courier partners were already operating carbon neutral delivery services throughout Cambridge city centre, London, Hoxton and Waltham Forest, passing our customers – such as retail outlets and offices. They will collect waste batteries enroute, rather than making one-way trips, which helps to save the planet.
We also aim to include battery removal as an additional service for existing delivery customers. This may be expanded to include other small format wastes.
Our battery collection service is free to all businesses and organisations within the UK. We arrange for battery boxes to be delivered to sites for the collection of household portable batteries, such as AA, AAA.
Once the box is filled, the batteries are collected and the box is left on site for further use.
If your business or organisation would like to start collecting waste batteries, we would be happy to provide you with one of our free battery collection boxes. Visit our recycle-more website and complete our battery box request form.
In the UK, we throw away over 600 million batteries each year, with more than 20,000 tonnes ending up in landfill. Recycling this hazardous waste responsibly is the right thing to do for the environment and also helps us to meet the UK’s national targets on battery recycling. However, we are always looking for ways to achieve our goals with less impact on the environment.
